Best of Poetry: IF I HAVE A CHOICE

If I have a choice
I will become a baby again
So I can enjoy the warmth
Of my mother’s bosom
Then I wouldn’t have to struggle
With unripe mangoes
But feed on sumptuous milk

If I have a choice
I will be a child again
So that my heart won’t be reservoir
Of bitterness
Neither will my conscience
Be littered about with un forgiveness

If I have a choice
I will turn some men into women
Just for a while
So they can appreciate the pains
Of menstruation
And cease to grumble on why
The sisters get more monthly stipend

If I have a choice
I will not marry o
So I won’t have to baby-sit
A woman’s load of troubles
Especially the nagging part
But I feel like crying knowing
I don’t have such a powerful choice

Phenomenal Me

Nomfanelo Evidence Mkhize

It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Best of Poetry: AFRICAN MOTHER

By Miles
With slave-like labour
Of pyramid building
She bore the hardship
Of bringing up a child
In the harshest of all
Weather she trades
Her comfort
And thirsty sand sucks
The fluids gushing
Out of blisters tearing
Her tender tissues
African mother
With righteous dedication
She bore the stress of
A delicate culture given
Up her pride to insatiable
Gullible masculine pride
Sacrificing her dreams
To keep the home intact
And many times the world
Doesn’t care to feel her impact
African Mother

Best of poetry: Metal Invasion

By Jude Melea Moses

We all saw it clearly in 1947
It was of a Russian origin,
A bloodless birth from Kalashnikov
The whole world celebrated this birth;
Man-made metal birth without a heart!

69 years ago, this old metal refused to die
It strength has continued to conquer humanity
Without fear, it has become the destiny of many;
Both young and old!

With just a single shout,
And the metal birth will make many slaves of the grave!
With this, neither the coffin or grave every belched satisfaction,
Man’s birth, man’s eater, man’s trouble!

But why will man continue to push himself to the grave?
This humble metal has continued to be wild with nature.

Metal invasion,
Man has continues to be the slave;
Of a slave man will continue to be,
Unless this metal birth is put to death!
A death many are longing to behold!
But is this metal mortal?

For no heart owns this metal,
But works in the heart of men!
Why blame the metal then,
Yes, I’m Kalashnikov; AK47!

Best of poetry: BEAUTIFUL SAHARA

By Miles

Beautiful Sahara
Of brave men and courageous
Women,
I know for the good of you
There’s a price
We all got to pay
But I have given my say
My pot of gold gone
Sacrificed my daughters
Given up my sons
Yet in you is peace denied

Beautiful Sahara,
See how my brothers art
Turn for war
Using teeth as swords
To devour the needy from
Among men
Nothing matters anymore
Only inevitable cries
Of longing hearts
The piercing cries of spilled
Blood
And the bitter consequences
Of a torn veil

Beautiful Sahara
Violence in you is not an option
Never a noble cause
Destruction awaits thee
My brothers are for war
 Despite the mansions
I have traded
The wealth with which I have
Parted
Their hearts fears nothing
Their conscience feeds no guilt

Beautiful Sahara,
They have torn thy pinnacles
Of have
Burning them down into ashes
Tension and terror now
Represents
Soon the evil spoken will come
From amidst our words
It will descend

Beautiful Sahara
Our home
I’m terror-stricken
As I watch the ladder
Breaks down
And collapse
But I pray for you
I wont give up on your
Case

Best of Poetry : If Only I Was Bold

By
 Gloria Eswayi Emmanuel

Sitting on one of the slabs in the sahara, in the cool of the evening
I was lost in deep thoughts
Like someone who has been drowned in an ocean
I ponder my paths through this journey of love I felt for him
But couldn't fine my way.

Its over 24months but its looked like eternity

I was hoping and wishing he noticed me
but he never did
Should I tell him,I thought
But decided its not ideal for an African Lady
And quite I kept.

How time flies I realized
But the feelings stay like a bird captured in a nest
Wishes took over my mind
and kept flowing like a stream
And all I could say is...
I wish I was bold enough!

Best of poetry: A simple prayer

By Miles

A simple prayer
May the moonlight of
Gracious blessings
bath your orchards,
Mercy make mincemeat
of the darkness of
Your fears.
When your thoughts
get beaten,
When the dust of rain
gust on your path,
You'll end up overwhelm
by the fullness of
Your achievements
more than sadden by
the emptiness of any
Shortcoming.

Best of Poetry: Flowers for you

By Miles

I find myself right now
Picking up pink roses
for you,
My crazy mind seeking
a glimpse of how you
look right now
That smile on that fine
face of yours.
You see my eyes?
They will not blink away,
from you today...nope
What a light you have!
Let out that smile
to feed the worms of
Joy on this day.
Go out tonight, sweetie
Wiggle and wriggle
Your waist,
to the song of your heart,
Tell me why should I not
come to you with flowers?

Best of poetry: Even if its a lie

By Miles

You sit still,
A soft smiling beauty
with the relaxed mood
Of a new born.
Lying isn't the worst
Of sins,
Adam ate the apple first,
Take it from me that
I remember you,
Even if it's a lie
It's been a while
Distance has become the
Grave of friendship.
Yet today I say rekindle
Your spirit,
Even if it takes eternity
Grow into who you,
You want to be.
I'll forgive you...if only
You won't fail with this
One life of yours.

Best of Poetry: Memories that never die

By Miles

Draw the curtain open and
See the view
You envisioned with nude
and naked innocence,
If I got a penny worth
Of oil,
and that's all I got
I shall give it to you.
Rainbows fade and do
fail to show,
But you must stand as
a monument,
My eyes full of esteem
will look for you
Forever,
Among memories that
never die.

Best of Poetry: ESOTERIC

ESOTERIC

By Lush_Lawyer

Standing, I watch his flesh hammered on
Like a piece of wood he was pinned to Calvary's tree for all
I see the gushing and the gnashing, the pain mixed with my gain
As a plant, the red liquid watered the wood
The one which stands so symbolic until now...

Poor Lucifer...! You should have taken hint dude!
You didn't see it coming right?!
The flesh grilled off him dispelled my ills and infractions
The crown of thorns, my soon-to-come crown of glory
Oh yeah... The mock worship, gained me the ticket to eternal worship

Poor bloke, how does it feel to be an eternal loser?
The game was fair enough but you couldn't fair
You saw yourself winning until it dawned he was the winner
You laughed so hard in mischief, oblivious 'twas to your misfortune

If only you knew... You wouldn't have signed up for the league
If only you knew... You would have countered his pain-filled trek to the skull place
If only you knew... You knew that this contest would make me come first
If only you knew... There's the magnificent reward, one bestowed by el- magnifico Himself...
You wouldn't have let Jesus die...

Best of Poetry: Bla- rk (1)

BLA-RK (1)

By Lush_Lawyer

They do turn us off
Twas more of a complexion bluff
This thing is skin deep
Way deeper than Jordan's dip

They make us believe we are less- beautiful
Making alotta people lose their esteem
But bla-rk is rich, and the curls are deep

They say our melanin is bad gene
But in cheers, we took some rich gin
There were the myriad of complexities
Making many give up their simplicities
O the things they do to turn fair!
Wanting to look just like Miss Blair
But they did forget that bla-rk is rich and the curls are deep

We are lush 'cos of our plush colour
Such an embodiment of rich pigment
Don't go jesting after my full lips
Nor you go smirking after my space-consuming nose
'Cos I would bang my confidence at ya face
I'd let you know that bla-rk is rich and the curls are deep...
